In a Blink of an Eye
by Marsha Lynch
In a blink of an eye, we first met,
Your soft gaze, a promise, a pet.
In a blink of an eye, a spark of love, pure and true—
In that moment, I knew it was you.
In a blink of an eye, we danced through days, side by side,
Teaching you gently, yet filled with pride.
In a blink of an eye, I learned it wasn’t me,
It was you, guiding, setting me free.
In a blink of an eye, with each command you learned so fast,
I marveled at how quickly time had passed.
In a blink of an eye, no longer teaching, but hand in paw,
You showed me life’s unspoken law.
In a blink of an eye, for every lesson I thought I gave,
It was you who led, so kind, so brave.
In a blink of an eye, ministering silently with love so deep,
A bond eternal, our hearts would keep.
In a blink of an eye, the days grew dim,
Your light, so bright, began to thin.
In a blink of an eye, though it seemed you’d always stay,
Suddenly, gently, you slipped away.
In a blink of an eye, though you’ve gone,
Your spirit lingers, ever strong.
For love like ours can never die—
It lives eternal, in a blink of an eye.
